Our Academy

We create joy-filled education through meaningful, engaging and enriching opportunities that enable all children to love their learning and thrive.

Joy filled learning matters.

Children will recognise the meaning in the opportunities presented to them and gain a deep sense of fulfilment from the challenges, opportunities and the success they are actively involved in over time.

The enactment of the curriculum will champion subjects and empower children to make the links from their learning in school to the wider world in which they live. Children will have opportunities to learn through subjects and make connections between subjects, this will enhance children’s understanding of their own sense of self and place in the world.

Where the curriculum is enriched through a wide curriculum offer and thoughtful opportunities that enhance the learning, there will be a positive impact on children’s intrinsic motivation and their deep understanding of the world around them.  Examples of enrichment could include trips, visitors, clubs, outdoor provision e.g. Forest School, specialist teaching in music and sport, thematic weeks, charity and fundraising events.

Children will learn to care for their education and their futures. Children’s happiness and well-being is paramount and will ensure a sense of belonging, providing security, comfort, and motivation. Developing children’s character and their values will be important as the learn to care for themselves and others around them.  As they learn the values of kindness, respect and responsibility, they will extend their care to their own futures, the futures of others and the lives of those who live beyond their community.

Partnerships can add tremendous value to children’s education. The school will value partnership with families and find a wide variety of ways to consult and work together with families and the community. Further opportunities will be created with community and local organisations to plan and develop experiences that enrich and enhance children’s understanding of the world in which they live.

Excellent standards of teaching and learning will result in high academic standards. Key to the pedagogy at Airfield Primary Academy will be 4 key strategies that will inspire children to learn linked to an important theme for our school – PLAY

  • Positive relationships: Teachers develop positive trusting relationships with children and families.
  • Learning Ready: Pupils’ needs are met and there are high expectations, secure routines and pupils ready to succeed.
  • Adaptive Planning: Assessment-informed planning that enables every learner to excel
  • Your Voice Matters: Talk-rich classrooms where explicit instruction, questioning and discussion drive learning.

The educational experience will be enhanced by drawing upon the expertise, and contributing to the expertise of the schools in our trust.

Early Years education will be characterised by play and precision to ensure an exceptional start to their school journey. Our community will see our school as a place of invention and innovation where pupils are encouraged to consider what is possible, where they are empowered in their learning and have intrinsic motivation to succeed and thrive.

Our whole school culture of safety, joy filled learning, and values led character development will educate children to be successful and make a valuable contribution to society as positive citizens in the local area.
