We understand that many people choose to volunteer in schools to gain experience that supports their future career goals. Some may be completing a Teaching Assistant course that requires weekly voluntary hours, while others may be seeking first-hand experience before applying for teaching qualifications through undergraduate or postgraduate routes. A placement can be a valuable opportunity to confirm your motivation, build confidence, and explore your interest in working with children. If either of these reasons align with your intentions, we would be delighted to hear from you.
We also recognise that some individuals simply have time to give. They may be working in another field, retired, or connected to the school as a relative of a pupil. Many volunteers in this group offer an hour or more each week, often supporting pupils with reading or other learning activities, or even office or teacher administration support.
For all voluntary roles, our school and trust follow pre-employment safeguarding procedures. This includes a meeting with the Principal to discuss your suitability and ensure volunteering is the right fit for both you and the school, as well seeking references.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at APA, please do get in touch — we would love to explore this opportunity with you.
