We are very excited to be writing to you before the start of the school year. We wanted to share a few updates with you, which we hope will be helpful to you and your family.
As we write, our class has grown to 16 children, of which most have visited our temporary school site and met some of our staff. In recent weeks, we have added to our already recruited teaching and office team, and have offered roles for lunchtime supervision, Breakfast Club and Kites After School Club.
Our school meals are provided by Innovate, they are the company chosen by the CLF to provide and serve meals to the children. Unless you child has a medical reason for exemption, all children will receive a school meal. School meals are free for all children in Reception, Year 1 and 2, this is called Universal Infant Free School Meals. We will have our meals at Haywood Village Academy, while we are based in our temporary classroom.
By applying for FSM, the school will receive additional funding to support you and your child. These will include reduced school trip costs and a voucher for uniform. Many more families are eligible for FSM’s than they realise, we strongly encourage you to check and apply at the start of September. Apply for free school meals – GOV.UK
Keep an eye on your MCAS app where you will receive updates, requests for information and you can register for breakfast and Kites afterschool clubs.
The school office will be open until Friday 31st July and can be reached by phone (0193 444 1140) or email (info@airfieldprimaryacademy.cul.uk). The office will reopen after summer break on Monday 24th August.
The Reception teaching team will complete home visits commencing Monday 7th September. This is a great opportunity for children to connect with their Class Teacher and share what is important to them in their home. The school office will be in contact to plan for these.
Our school uniform can be purchased from NK Sport. Pupils are expected to attend in full school uniform each day, with all items clearly labelled. Families should ensure PE kits, book bags
(EYFS/KS1) and appropriate footwear are ready before term starts. Visit the school website for full uniform details.
In reception, children will change for PE in school. Please bring your child’s labelled PE kit into school when your child begins school.
